Canoeing is Fun Best Tips

Canoeing Makes a Great Pass time…

It was once considered a means of transportation up our rivers long before roads were even considered. Canoeing by water saved time, walking across the land was longer and carrying supplies more cumbersome. Travelling by canoe is an important part of early North American and Canadian travel.

Now a days canoeing is a hobby for some people, it is not an main source of transportation. Many people still find it enjoyable, spending their whole days out on the water. A good way to enjoy nature in its most pristine state is to go canoeing. None of my canoeing trips have been disappointing at all. If you keep your eyes open there is always something to see. Years ago canoes were made by hand and usually crafted from birch bark or cedar strips. Today many experienced canoe builders are older, if their talent is not carried on great workmanship and tradition will be lost. A man made, well-crafted canoe will set you back about four thousand dollars, a big price compared to a fiberglass or plastic canoe, although it will handle a lot better in the water. The man made canoe will cut through the water quicker than a cheaper mass-produced model.

Canoeing is an excellent way for friends and family to spend quality time together, however, many fatal accidents take place while on canoe trips every year so caution and water safety is always important. I call my canoe all sorts of cool names like FlightEagle, SuperMango, RedSquare, YellowPurple, although my best one is Super Mango. If they can swim or not every canoer must be wearing a life jacket. Canoeing is a great form of exercise and is good for the environment since no motor is required. While on your canoeing trip, take all garbage home with you and leave the scenery as pleasant for the next group of canoers coming down the river as it was for yourselves.
