The Aquamog Should Be One of Your Aquatic Plant Control Options

There is nothing individuals enjoy more than a little plant killing, particularly in their pond, or even their fishpond wherein it’d cause major issues for the fish as well as you. Fish don’t enjoy navigating through a massive forest any more than the rest of us, so it’s best to keep a handle on the plants at the bottom of your pond, before one of them develops into the man-eating plant from Jumanji.

An excess of watery plants can cause issues ranging from boat motors being jammed, to undesirable results while fishing, to children having a horrible time trying to swim through your water. None of these are anything that you want, so it’s better to eradicate the source of the problem before it even begins if you can.

You have a couple options available to you, options that range from biological control, which is to say the use of Grass Carp that naturally govern the plant populous, to lining your whole pond with a plastic lining…that seems a pretty dramatic measure, but you know, whatever floats your boat.

So let’s go over a couple of your options, and then you can choose which one is best for your situation, but keep in mind that these are just a very small selection of options, and you must speak with other pond owners, or professionals to learn about each and every method available to you.

Aquamog – Is a useful aquatic vessel designed to perform numerous different water restoration tasks.

Aquatic Harvester – Ridding yourself of the plants manually, is of course a good option. However, if the plant is not situated on the shore, or isn’t|is not on the top of the water, you may discover yourself investing in some diving equipment to swim down there without suffocating. If you do not have knowledge of the dynamics of scuba diving, or just can’t hold your breath for a long time, it’s advisable for you to consult the professionals. Believe it or not, there are companies that specialize in cleaning the bottom of ponds and lakes, so you will be pretty well off.

Chemicals – There’s chemicals available for you to use in order to get rid of the annoying aquatic life. A few chemicals are Fluridone,2,4-D, Glyphosate, Diquat, Endothall. Naturally though, it’s never suggested that you use any kind of chemical to eradicate the plants, which is not unlike the reason it’s never recommended for you to toss an electrical current into the pond to catch your prize fish. Using chemicals can prove deadly to fish, in addition to any other various life you may have residing in your pond. Use such things carefully, or better yet, don’t use them at all unless you absolutely have to.

Dye – You can purchase a wide range of chemical dye that will color the water, and thereby reduce the amount of sunlight for any aquatic plants. it is better to do this at the beginning of spring for a better turnout.

Lining – Covering the bottom of your body of water with a type of plastic is also an option, as that will stunt the development of any aquatic plant life. Don’t forget that it can get expensive, so consider the volume of your pond, in addition to the amount of plastic you’ll require. Naturally that is a viable option for compact fish ponds, though perhaps not so much for an entire lake in your yard.

Keep in mind that there are tons of ways to halt aquatic life from infiltrating your water, and to discover the method that is right for you, talk to a professional or talk to different pond owners.
